Ministry Trainees (3 places)
Are you interested in exploring more about, and being trained for, ministry? Fancy committing for one or two years to be trained and serve in a local church setting? Then why not come and work with us? We offer the opportunity to be part of a team of trainees and to experience ministry in a variety of contexts; in school, church, small groups, community involvement and evangelism. We are a small church but on a big mission.
We are a small church composed of a wide range of ages and backgrounds with a thriving Sunday school and lots of opportunities in a local school. A new sixth form college has just opened (Sept 2017) in the area and we’d love to see a CU started there. There is also scope for involvement in an existing local secondary school CU. Why not have a look round our website and get a flavour of what we do and listen to a sermon or 2 to see what we are about? And why not get in contact to come visit for a weekend?
What is the Ministry Trainee scheme?
A 1 or 2 year opportunity to train in gospel ministry; to develop a better understanding of the Bible, learn new, and sharpen existing, skills in gospel ministry and serve God’s people. It would be suitable for those considering ministry longer term or just wanting to put down good foundations for life and service of God in the future.
It has 3 main components:
- Practical service – anything from setting out chairs, to photocopying and admin, to getting toys out for toddlers, or running a cafe at the school fayre.
- Training – The position comes with extensive supervision and mentoring and will include a day a week taking a Graduate Diploma in Theology with Union Theology.
- Opportunities in teaching and gospel ministry – from school assemblies to 1-2-1’s, leading services and preaching, to children’s talks and leading a Bible study.
There will be a wide range of opportunities to explore and develop gifts in a wide range of teaching and ministry settings.
Is it for me?
It’s for you if you want a year or 2 to learn how to study and teach the Bible, to experience how people of all ages and backgrounds can feed on and grow from God’s Word, and to see how a small church works and tries to reach its community with the gospel.
We are looking for people who:
- love Jesus, his people, and the lost
- are teachable and keen to grow spiritually
- are ready and willing to serve practically
- and are committed to studying the Bible and applying it to life and culture
What about funding and accommodation?
This is a voluntary trainee position and the cost of the scheme is £5000 a year. This will cover all costs including accommodation. Grace church will provide a grant of £2500 per trainee per year and you would be required to raise the remaining funds. Help and support will be given as you seek to raise those funds in terms of budgeting and making contacts if you require it.
